Gastric Sleeve

Gastric sleeve surgery, also known as “Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy,” is a weight-loss procedure in which approximately 80% of the stomach is removed, leaving a tube-shaped stomach about the size of a banana. This surgery is recommended for patients who have tried diet and exercise for a long time but have not succeeded in losing weight.

Gastric Balloon

The gastric balloon, or “intragastric balloon” (IGB), is a temporary medical device placed in the stomach to help patients feel full with less food, promoting weight loss. This option is suitable for those who have struggled with diet and exercise but have not achieved their weight-loss goals. It is essential to adopt a permanent lifestyle change, including a healthy diet and regular exercise, even after the gastric balloon procedure.

Gastric Bypass

Gastric bypass surgery reduces the stomach size to limit calorie intake and promote weight loss. The top part of the stomach is disconnected to create a small pouch, which is then connected to a loop of the small intestine, effectively bypassing about 95% of the stomach. This rerouting of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract helps patients lose weight more effectively.

Diabetes Surgery (SADI-S)

Diabetes surgery, specifically Single Anastomosis Duodeno-Ileal Bypass with Sleeve Gastrectomy (SADI-S), is a variation of the duodenal switch surgery. This procedure involves converting the stomach into a banana-shaped tube, similar to the gastric sleeve, and is performed to aid in weight loss and address metabolic issues such as Type-2 diabetes, dyslipidemia, and metabolic syndrome. SADI-S can significantly improve the quality of life for individuals with Type-2 diabetes.

Gastric Injections

Gastric injections are a cutting-edge method for aiding weight loss. This non-surgical endoscopic procedure involves injecting a substance directly into the stomach wall to restrict natural stomach muscle contractions and reduce appetite. Gastric injections are suitable for overweight individuals but not for those with a BMI above 40. This method is not effective for people classified as obese.
